Stop Lawsuits
If you want to stop lawsuits that are pending against you, there are a
few options you have. The first option you should try to stop lawsuits
is to speak to the person on the other side of the legal table. Try to
find out why that person is angry enough to fight you in court. Is there
something you can do to remedy the situation? In some cases, the person
may not want much, and you may be able to accommodate the person without
going further.
Should your own talking not do the trick, recommend that you use arbitration
or mediation. Arbitration is a way to stop lawsuits before they reach the
courtroom. This method is used often for business, small claims, and divorce
proceedings. You will speak to a mediator who will talk to each of you
together and individually and then bring you together to propose a compromise.
This person will not impose any decision, but you will be bound legally
to comply with any agreement you make.

Another option is to hire an attorney. In reality, you will need
an attorney for many claims against you regardless of how you decide
to end the claims, especially if the first two options did not work
for you. An attorney can help stop lawsuits through two means. First,
they can file documents against the opposing party. Sometimes counter
suits or a flurry of claims or motions against the plaintiff will
convince that person that it is not worth it to pursue the proposed
legal action. Second, your lawyer can stop lawsuits by working out
a settlement between you and other party. This method may cost you
money, but it could be worth it to end the situation. Regardless
of how you try to stop lawsuits, be sure that you are doing your
part to comply with any decision that is reached.
